    Lá em cima há planícies sem fim; Há estrelas que parecem correr; Há o Sol e há dia a nascer;
    E nós aqui sem parar numa Terra a girar…

    What Happened to Star Marine, Star Citizen's Missing Module

    Throughout 2015 Star Marine, Star Citizen’s first-person shooter module, was always just weeks away. In March, on a stage at PAX East, CEO of Cloud Imperium Games Chris Roberts said it would be released in three weeks. Five months later in August, he told GamersNexus that it was “a matter of three, four, maybe five weeks.” Today, more than a year on, Star Marine still isn’t in players’ hands.

    Star Citizen cans CryEngine over Amazon's Lumberyard
    ...
    This does not come as a big surprise with the recent troubled news from Crytek and the fact that Amazon's Lumberyard is actually based on CryEngine, as well as uses technologies from AWS, Twitch and Double Helix.

    According to Chris Roberts, Star Citizen, and Squadron 42, will be using a heavily modified version of the engine, now called StarEngine, with the foundation of the engine switching from CryEngine to Lumberyard. It appears that Chris Roberts, CIG and Amazon, all believe that the future of massively online games is the power of cloud computing, which should deliver better online experience than "an old fashioned single server architecture" (like the CryNetwork).

    Star Citizen Raised $148 Million from Fans, but Now It’s Raising Concerns

    Naturally, Star Citizen is spotlighted for an article discussing the pitfalls of crowdfunded titles. The game’s creator originally expected to raise only $4 million for the title, yet that number has grown to $148 million, and that financial progress has compelled the team to build a bigger and even greater game, keeping its timeframe for release a mystery. However, there seems to be a "journey rather than the destination" argument provided by some backers, who are perfectly content with just being able to play the game as it is being developed. The highest amount donated to Cloud Imperium Games is reportedly $10,000, and many people have contacted the studio to ask about giving even larger amounts.

    Star Citizen now selling nonexistent in-game properties

    This new form of monetization dubbed 'Land Claim Licenses' offers gamers two plot sizes they can choose from; a plot with an area of four square kilometers, and one that comes in at eight square kilometers for $100. The developer noted that even though this feature is not implemented yet, it gives those willing to part with their money a chance to 'pre-order' a piece of land they are interested in. For those who do not want to part with their hard earned money, once it goes live, you can use the in-game currency that can be earned through normal gameplay.
